Third Trimester Abortion Procedures

Dilations & Extraction

Also known as Partial Birth Abortion, D & X, Intact D & X, or Intrauterine Cranial Decompression, this surgical abortion procedure is used after 21 weeks gestation.

Induction Abortion

In this rarely used abortion procedure, potassium chloride, salt water or urea is injected into the amniotic sac. Along with this, pitocin is injected intravenously and prostaglandins are inserted into the vagina.
